Carl Scott, MHA

50+ Years of Mental Health, Healthcare, Executive Leadership, and Business Coaching

Carl Scott brings more than five decades of experience in mental health, healthcare, executive leadership, business coaching, and organizational development.

Carl holds a Master's in Healthcare Administration from Indiana University and has spent his career combining education, research, best practices, and real-world executive experience to help leaders and organizations improve performance.

His business coaching career began in 1975, and he has worked with the Dr. John Oda Method since 2013.

Throughout his career, Carl has served in senior executive leadership positions, including CEO of multiple mental health agencies and healthcare organizations throughout the Chicago and Indiana markets — giving him firsthand experience with the realities of leading organizations: people, performance, operations, culture, communication, accountability, change, growth, and profitability.

His experience also includes startup operations, hiring and developing professional staff, marketing, professional supervision, executive development, middle-management training, conflict resolution, change management, diversity, human resources, and organizational change. He has trained and conducted workshops for Fortune 500 companies, universities, healthcare organizations, institutions, law firms, small businesses, MBA graduates, PhDs, executives, middle managers, and employees at every level of an organization.

Carl also believes leadership carries a responsibility to give back — his philanthropic work has included serving on healthcare boards of directors in the Chicagoland area.

Leadership Is More Than a Position

Carl authored the Leadership chapter in Dr. John Oda's international bestselling book, Unlimited Business Growth. His philosophy reflects one of the fundamental principles behind our work:

"The strength of an organization will eventually be determined by the strength of the people leading it."

But some of the strongest evidence of Carl's leadership isn't found on his résumé. It can be found in his family. Carl is the father of eight college-educated children, including children who have gone on to earn advanced degrees and build successful professional lives of their own.

For Carl, that is leadership at one of its highest levels — decades of modeling values, establishing expectations, encouraging education, developing personal responsibility, supporting growth, and helping the next generation develop the confidence and discipline to create their own success.

Carl brings that same philosophy to the leaders and organizations he serves — helping them recognize what they may not see, strengthen their leadership, develop their people, and build organizations capable of sustaining the growth they want to achieve.

Dr. Scot Conway

Senior Leadership, Ohana & Conflict Resolution Strategist

Scot Conway, PhD, JD

Pastor. Attorney. 10th-Degree Grandmaster. Author. Mental Health Professional.

Dr. Scot Conway brings an extraordinary combination of approximately 30 years of mental health experience, decades of legal experience, pastoral leadership, martial arts mastery, communication, conflict resolution, and human development.

Known as Grandmaster Scot, he is a 10th-degree Grandmaster whose leadership philosophy has been shaped by decades of studying discipline, responsibility, relationships, communication, and human behavior. He is also a prolific author of more than 65 books covering leadership, relationships, personal development, law, martial arts, and the principles he has spent decades teaching.

The Ohana Philosophy

Dr. Conway authored the Ohana chapter in Dr. John Oda's international bestselling book, Unlimited Business Growth. Ohana means more than family — within an organization, it represents connection, responsibility, trust, communication, belonging, and the understanding that what affects one person can ultimately affect the entire team.

That perspective allows Dr. Conway to approach organizational challenges differently. He understands that many problems that appear to be business problems are actually people problems — communication breakdowns, unresolved conflict, damaged relationships, unclear expectations, poor leadership, and loss of trust.

His work helps leaders strengthen relationships, address conflict, improve communication, and create organizations in which people understand both their individual responsibilities and their responsibility to one another.

Within the Dr. John Oda Method team, Dr. Horton brings that expertise into life coaching, sports performance, sales performance, behavioral change, addiction-related work, communication, and personal transformation.

"Sometimes the next level isn't about learning more. It's about changing the internal patterns controlling what you already know how to do."

One Team. Different Areas of Mastery.

The right expertise for what's actually taking place.

Each member of the team brings a different depth of experience and perspective. Together, the goal isn't to give every client the same answer — it's to understand what's actually happening, identify the patterns affecting the outcome, and bring the right expertise to the challenge.
